Nik, along with her mindful mate Mark (mindfulness teacher and psychologist) are taking you on retreat! After having attended around 20 retreats between them, Nik & Mark have designed the kind of mindfulness retreat they have always dreamed of.  

This is unlike anything else!  A perfect balance of mindfulness meditation, yoga, workshop sessions, fun and relaxation.

All this in a tropical location with spectacular views and healthy, delicious food.  There’ll be plenty of free time just to chill, explore vintage Fiji (this is not your regular tourist island), or even take on some action.  How about snorkelling, hiking, village tours, and waterfalls - or, indulge in a massage, curl up with a favourite book or just lay by the pool! 

The retreat will be based on the well-known Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course and will include other offerings from mindfulness approaches that Nik and Mark are inspired by.

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES


Each day will include mindfulness training & practice including:

We will enjoy a traditional Fijian welcome ceremony and buffet dinner

+ Monday, August 13

A trip into Savusavu to explore the idyllic Savusvau bay, local markets and community.

+ Tuesday, August 14

Today we will enjoy a trip to Devodara beach where we will snorkel in the warm Fijian ocean and have a delicious picnic on the beach.

+ Wednesday, August 15

As well as our daily practices and workshop today you will have free time to explore the island, you might like to have an adventure on a stand up paddle board, scuba dive or indulge in a massage.

+ Thursday, August 16

Today we will visit a local village where we will be welcomed by the warm and friendly Fijians with a kava ceremony and very moving traditional Meke Dance.

+ Friday, August 17

A short hike and visit to Vuadomo waterfall for a refreshing dip in the water.

+ Saturday, August 18

Breakfast and final goodbyes before our trip home.

MEET YOUR TEACHERS



 

Hi, I’m Mark, an experienced MBSR facilitator and psychologist.

I’ve been teaching mindfulness based programs for about 5 years.  I love joining people on their mindfulness journey and seeing the changes it can bring.  Besides teaching the MBSR course, I teach mindfulness to staff within organisations to help them get more satisfaction and meaning out of work.  I also run a psychology practice in Wollongong (Mark Baxter Psychology)

This is my third international mindfulness program with Nik and I’m excited to be part of the Mindfulness Project.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and enjoying the week together.

Hi! I’m Nik, a qualified MBSR facilitator and the founder of the Mindfulness Project.

I’ve spent years teaching the 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, and have experience hosting both national & international mindfulness & yoga retreats.

I’ve worked as an Addiction Counsellor, where I taught mindfulness-based relapse prevention to people in recovery for addictive behaviours/in residential rehabilitation facilities.

I also provided general counseling in reducing stress, anxiety, and family-related issues.

I live in the Yarra Valley in Melbourne, Australia with my husband Pete and our 3 kids, Bella, Charli, and Billy.

I can’t wait to see you in Fiji!

TRAVEL INFORMATION

  • The retreat commences at 5.30pm Sunday 12th August and concludes 10am Saturday 18th August, 2018. You may visit Fiji without obtaining a Visa, with a passport that is valid for at least 6 months.
  • Flights: The retreat is held on the beautiful island of Savusavu, Fiji. You will need to organise your flights to Savusavu or Labasa  with Fiji Airways, Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Australia or Air New Zealand. Transfers from Savusavu airport are included in the retreat. 
  • Travel Insurance: Please ensure you have travel insurance (approx. $50 AUD) - a requirement of attending the retreat. You will generally need to take out a policy within 14 days of booking your flights. Your private health fund may offer travel insurance. We also have found Cover More to offer competitive rates.

Yes, we have Wi-Fi throughout the property. We also have a few computers for you to use if you don't want to bring your laptop.
